According to Ford Motor Company, Ford will be paying its executive chairman for the first time since 2005 now that they have seen a profit for over a year. William Clay Ford, Jr. set aside his earnings in the hopes of helping his company pull back out of the financial crisis.

Now that Ford has made, and held profit, for over a year, the company has decided to give him compensation dating back to 2008. This means he is looking at receiving 4.2 million dollars in cash and another 11.6 million dollars in company stock options.

Ford’s committee for compensations has determined that the company’s financials are healthy enough to restore Mr. Ford’s pay. Ford Motor Company was one of the worse off of the three automotive manufactures in Detroit when they decided to cut Mr. Ford’s pay to help. But since then, they have shown profits for the last 5 consecutive quarters.

Ford is also the only one of the three major automobile companies that didn’t jump on the government bailout program like others did, but they still received a bit of financial help later on through other programs. An email was sent to employees thanking them for their efforts.
